Summary
Please excuse a little exposition. For those of us who came up with BG1 and BG2, BG3 was a bit daunting. Larian, as skilled as they are, was stepping into the headcanon of many of us. Some of us who had spent 20 years buidling our own headcanons that did not involve... Abdel. And now we were confronted with how to match those headcanons to the new story. We could go all Star Wars about it and just nuke 20 years of backstory like they did. Or we could take a page from Star Trek and… well, go all Kelvin timeline about it. Decide that the Larian BG3 verse was just another part of the multiverse from my other CHARNAME’S Verses.
I chose the Kelvin approach and carried on happily.
But then I had the following idea. What if…the illithid ship snatched up not just someone from one of my CHARNAME’s Verses but one of their actual descendants? What happens when this Tav runs into something… or someONE who would rip the veil from their eyes?
That idea sat and percolated and swirled around while I did other things. And finally it forced its way through. So now, Octavia de Arnise, great granddaughter of Aleria of Candlekeep, Hero of Baldur’s Gate, Savior of the Sword Coast comes face to face with just that moment.

Summary
Not all the stories of the Bhaalspawn Wars star the Bhaalspawn themselves. Some follow the many and myriad folks those that get dragged along in their wake and are forced to survive the tumult. This is the story of one such person, a Shadow Thief named Sime, forced to navigate treacherous times and dangerous situations as she finds herself playing a part in this great story as it plays out across Faerun.
