    It always takes him aback when Marc chooses to call him Vale instead of by his full name; the sensation is similar to that of a wet slap, sudden and burning across his cheeks, and it lingers until Marc lets his usual mask of cordial neutrality slide back over his face and corrects himself, calling him Valentino in lieu of a proper hello. His breath still hitches on the second syllable anyway, and this, too, makes something inside Valentino’s stomach stir painfully. His fingers curl instinctively around a random jar of pasta sauce, looking for something, anything, to hold onto, to brace himself against the fucking storm that is Marc Marquez.
    "Marc. Ciao," he says, when he feels confident enough that his voice won’t falter, eyes fixed on a point behind Marc's head, staring intently at the boxes of pasta all'uovo lined up on the shelf.

     

    Valentino meets Marc unexpectedly in Madonna di Campiglio. They don't reconcile at all, but at least the sex is worth it.
