When Viktor finally asks why Jayce stayed behind inside the Anomaly with him, Jayce stares at him as though he’s supremely disappointed by the question— as if Viktor has betrayed his own brilliance by asking something so irredeemably stupid. “How could I not? We’re partners.”
Partners, Jayce calls them. Not for the first time, Viktor wonders: Partners in what?

It is delightful to watch him. With his beautiful face, and his fascinating person; the man is a thing to wonder at. He’s a figure in a play, taking centre stage and Jayce is watching from the first row, taking in every expression, every gesture, every movement.
He is beautiful. Jayce will watch him. Forever.
Or: Jayce is a miserable vampire in 1890s London. He meets Viktor, a lonely alchemist. They fall in love… or something akin to it.
