Summary
This fic begins shortly after Zuko’s coronation. A team of doctors and healers are sent to the Fire Nation to look after the health of Team Avatar, including a therapist. As Zuko’s mental health plummets, the Gaang urges him to seek help. An almost-assassination and a suicide attempt send Zuko spiraling, oscillating between "okay" and "not okay."
This fic is an exploration of bipolar disorder and its impact on Zuko, as well as the ones around him.

This is my chance to look back.
If Sokka had turned around to catch a glimpse of Zuko walking away, just to take in who the name belonged to, it would be Zuko’s sign to pursue his ignited curiosity. It would be a sign that they both wanted to know more. This glimpse would be the single moment in which Zuko either let this go, or let this consume him entirely.
So, he did what any normal person would do if their future depended on it. He stopped to look over his shoulder.

"Sokka" Zuko spoke, garnering the tribesman's attention.
"Fire Lord Zuko," Sokka said, lowering his gaze to avoid Zuko's eyes, "you look well," Zuko felt so small.
Sokka spoke mechanically, rehearsed, like the conversation was strained and the six words were something he might choke on.
It dawned on him.
Zuko was alone, not even Hakoda was here to defend him from the carnivorous harpies, it was just him. His hands shook, lips trembled, but he did his best to show face. His smile disappeared, his warmth dying like the last coals on a hearth, and Zuko felt cold.
He hated the cold.
