Violet Sorrengail's world is shattered when she discovers everything she was taught to believe is a lie. Between discovering her brother still alive and the man she fell in love with to be the head of a much larger rebellion, a revolution, she decides to be on the right side of history, the side that defends the weak and fights against the Venin.
Now Violet needs to learn how to navigate Basgiath War College as a second year with stakes higher than ever, protect the ones she loves, and sort out what to do with Xaden Riorson, the man who broke her heart but still very much owns it.
Like everyone else who’s read this book, I’m still suffering from the hangover that came from finishing it. Attempting to work out the hangover by taking a stab at what happens next.
Picks up right after Brennan is revealed to be alive. This fic is intended to run until Iron Flame comes out in November. I own nothing. I’m just here to kill time till November :)

My palm slams down onto the table with a violent rattle of dishes, and instantly every conversation ceases, and every eye turns towards me.

She wants to stare at him, long and hungry, studying the way his black tux fits snug against his muscled body, the way his black hair shines deep blue in the moonlight. She wants to gaze into his eyes, which, before he registers who she is, shine like constellations in a night-dark sky. Instead she has to school her features into something like bored composure. The look of the Hind.
“Night?” Lidia asks, knowing her voice has slipped into its true register, the sounds he must recognize by now.
He stares at her, his expression disbelieving. He moves to turn on his heel, disgust blooming on his features.“You can’t leave yet,” she says. These words are in a much more familiar cadence, the one all the rebel spies hear before they disappear behind closed doors.
