Arthur feels warm, listening to John talk to Lilly over the phone. He pictures them in the pasta aisle, cart full of fruits and vegetables and cans of all kinds. He pictures Lilly studying the shelves intently, frowning at each box before carefully selecting the one she likes best. He pictures John, pen cap gripped between his teeth as he checks each item off a carefully constructed list.
And without really making the conscious decision to do so, Arthur opens his mouth and says, “I could give you the sheet music over coffee?”

Long distance relationships don't work. That's what everyone says. It's too much of a distance, too much of an effort. Sooner or later, you'll get bored, or your partner will be bored. If not, real life happens and you'll drift apart.
That's why both Langa and Reki don't say anything about their growing feelings for each other, when Langa moves back to Canada as a professional skater for eight months. Perhaps they can wait until they see each other again. For now, both boys simply look forward to the other's call or chat every single day, and the day after that.
