Summary
Acceleration, the rate at which velocity changes with time, in terms of both speed and direction. Motion on a circle is accelerated even if the speed is constant, because the direction is continually changing. This is a fact, even in the matters of time. Around and around they go in a circle forever, spiraling towards the inevitable end, though only one of them knows it (most of the time).
Jayce has been accelerating towards this his whole life, this fated meeting with the Mage who gave him this runestone. It's less and more shocking than he ever could have imagined.

Summary
The funeral is a week later. The church is sterile and nearly empty. Bruce sits next to Alfred in the front row. His eyes are fixed on his shoes the whole time. His eyes are dull and unfocused. The speakers, for there are so many, talk and talk and talk until he thinks about screaming for them to shut up. He doesn’t care what they have to say! Alfred always squeezes his hand when he feels that very strong thought and he knows he can’t do that to Alfred because he loved his parents too.
The last one to speak is an old priest, his dad's childhood one, he thinks. He wants to summon enough energy to look up and pay attention but the words about God’s love and kindness curdle the thoughts sour before he even manages it. God is cruel if one or more even exists.
He thinks to himself that maybe if he were to meet one what he would do. Maybe he would shout at them until his voice was gone. Maybe he would fight them. He thinks he would make them weak though. That makes the most sense to him. If he were to make a god or more mortal then, they would be subject to the misery they created or, at the least, didn’t stop.

“Hey there stranger,” Tony said as he settled into the stool beside Logan.
Logan turned his head the slightest amount to get a good look at Tony. He had on rattier jeans than normal (blue jeans at that), a nice polo, and his patented superhero disguise glasses. A smirk danced on his lips as Logan cocked a curious brow at him. What exactly was Tony doing in a bar a few states away dressed rather shittily and looking too excited to see him? Whatever, he mentally shrugged, it was none of his business.
Logan grunted in reply and took a swig of his beer sitting in front of him. He was on one of his “loner trips” as Marie had dubbed them. He didn’t mind other people showing up but when they showed up for good he tended to get itchy for air.

Everyone had bad days. Some people even had terrible days sometimes. One thing was certain though, bodies would be dropping if it was a bad day for Lord Vader. Today had been a Horrible No Good Very Bad Day, judging by the growing pile of bodies the trooper saw. They didn’t want to go in the room. There were already twenty bodies stacked up outside the room. Who in their right mind would go in this room?
They had to though. Someone had to tell Lord Vader he had a visitor from Coruscant. Taking a deep breath they knocked as lightly as they could on the door, leaning as far away as their armor would let them.The door slid open slowly with a menacing his. They were almost certain they were going to die. Straightening their back, they faced their death like they were supposed to, a proud soldier of the empire.

“Right, so like I was saying, someone on the team,” Tony reinforced.
“I can neither confirm nor deny that, sir,” JARVIS answered.
Tony sighed though and looked down at the gift in front of him. It innocuously sat on his workshop table with what seemed to be a special ribbon wrapped around it. The ribbon had little Ironman head embossed on it with a blue background. Not just any blue, arc reactor blue. Honestly, it was quite an impressive ribbon. The ends of the bow the ribbon formed even had the perfect curls.

Tony folded his arms and frowned, muttering under his breath, “I was fine those times y’know.”
Nat had the decency not to snort, thought Tony could tell she wanted to. She walked up to him and stood across from him at his work table. He shifted under her steady gaze and refused to meet her eyes.
“Well then, since you’re ‘fine,’” here she air-quoted, “why don’t we take a trip down to medical and have them give you a quick once over?”

Tony ran from the crowd with Steve right beside him, both breathing heavy. The crowd was stopped when the pair ran through the gate which slammed shut behind them. Slowing to a walk they both breathlessly laughed and smiled at one another. Steve was bent double with his hands on his knees.
“Steve, my dear, dear, Steven, next time you suggest something with that asshole tone of voice I’m saying no,” Tony wheezed.
Steve straightened up for a second and stretched his back with a grunt before replying, “I don’t quite know what you mean! My plan worked perfectly. You’re home safe and you had fun, what more could a bodyguard do for their boss?”
Tony straightened up some, rubbing his chest. It was unusually sore today. He shot Steve an unbelieving look and mumbled, “Ass.”
“Yes, you do have a nice one,” Steve muttered. Tony blushed and lightly swatted at Steve’s shoulder.

Steve sighed as he once again threw his shield against the opposing army of Ultron commanded robots. A few went down but they were quickly replaced. Even the Hulk was getting tired. He kept valiantly smashing though.
