They were like infesting weeds that you didn’t notice until it was too late, and no matter how much Sandrone tried to clean them out, they kept springing back. Nevertheless, they were unacceptable. She couldn’t afford to indulge herself in something as fickle as romance. Her plans in life had no room for fluttering feelings for anyone, much less her own best friend.
As long as she ignored these emotions, Sandrone knew that they’d eventually fade away for good. And everything would be as it should. Until then, Sandrone would endure. Endure Columbina’s unknowing affection and the betrayal of her own physiology behind closed doors.
