Heart wrenchingly tender. I love how you can clearly feel the desolation Genichiro feels at his headless state- he is quite literally a dead man walking, unable to speak, see, eat, rest- just forcing himself to shamble along until he makes sure Ashina is safe. The isolation he feels from his monstrous state that he inflicted upon himself, the regret & aimlessness when not fighting. All made worse because nearly everybody is understandably either frightened or uncomfortable around him.
The hairbrushing scene was sooo OUGHHHHH good… Wolf being so gentle 😭 Im sure that was pretty much the only reason he didn’t just end himself after the war was over.

Wolf’s knees bent, bracing himself against Genichiro’s weight as he drove his blade in deep, Genichiro muttering the only prayer he knows.
Ashina, Ashina.
Wolf is the most vicious creature Genichiro has ever met, but he smells like lotus and sakura and something in Genichiro unspools every time he pulls him into his lungs. There is no such thing as a destined mate, in spite of what all the folklore says, but compatibility is a powerful thing.
Wolf is a powerful thing. Genichiro cannot help but want him.

Cream of the crop, top tier omegaverse fic holy shit. The elaborate & drawn out courtship rituals, the scent kink, the alpha just absolutely losing his goddamn mind HAHA how genichiro can’t stop his animalistic crooning & growling in the presence of Wolf.
The tension in this was blisteringly hot, but it was also like way cuter than I thought it would be- Genichiro asking Kuro the literal 12 yr old for permission to court Wolf & Wolf being completely oblivious to the months long display of intent Genichiro has been practically shoving into his face. And then the gradual building of trust & affection right after Wolf understood the intent! So cute!
