Summary
Duncan glared back. His fear was gone, replaced by righteous indignation and anger. “I demand a trial by combat. I will get no justice from you lot!”
Now he’d done it. Maekar looked as if he had been personally struck. “You lowly gutter rat. You strike my omega son. And now you demand to fight him? Some knight, some honor. Why don’t you challenge me scum? Too scared to fight someone on your level?” Aerion’s breath hitched. Someone on your level? His face turned red. This was how his father saw him, just a weak maiden. He was blood of the dragon. He was of Old Valyria. He was far above this lowly hedge knight, this insignificant peasant. He did not need his father to fight for him. All he needed was his armor and mace to fight for his name.
“Enough father. I accept.” He bit his tongue to avoid saying more. The table of advisors stared at him dumbfounded.
What if Aerion has chosen a normal trial by combat? With marriage on the line

"You fought well," Baelor says, extending his hand, and Dunk takes it gratefully. It feels like an anchor, gives him something to focus on besides all the pain brimming up in his body.

Summary
Valarr fights for Dunk, Baelor doesn't die. Instead, he finds himself intrigued by the hedge knight. After ser Duncan leaves Ashford Meadow with Egg in tow, the prince cannot forget about the man. And as years grow, he finds he misses his blunt honesty more and more.
Basically a "Baelor Targaryen Lives AU" where he pines after Dunk without ever realizing it's pining. And sassy Maekar is there too.

Summary
After the chaos of the tourney, Prince Daeron Targaryen faces the aftermath of bloodshed and injury. Searching for Egg, he finds Ser Duncan gravely wounded by the elm tree — and is forced to confront his own guilt.
"His heart ached seeing the knight like this. Daeron did not know much of honour, didn't possess much of it himself, but he recognised it when he saw it. Ser Duncan had done what all knights should, he had defended the innocent. He had started an avalanche of blood with it, but he had stayed true to his oath."

Summary
The heat inside him surged at the contact, no longer a distant pressure but a living thing that pressed against his ribs and throat, swelling until his breath came shallow and sharp. It felt as though his body were betraying him, as though the fire he had been taught to master since infancy turned inward and licked at the fragile edges of his control.
