Summary

Summary
Leading up to the match against Team Catastrophe where she's supposed to be taking part, Aki has an accident that changes things. Changes them in a way she could have never assumed--and realises she's woefully unequipped to deal with. When a fateful encounter with an old acquaintance additionally shakes things up, she comes to the conclusion that perhaps, she's not quite as done dealing with her past as she thought she was.
Part 5 of an attempt to give Aki an actual character arc post dark signers. Covers the timeframe between episodes 104 and 117 of canon. Sequel, though not direct sequel, to Snapping Jaws and Piercing Horns.

Summary
It's time for the WRGP and against her own expectations, Aki finds herself in the team lineup for the very first match, set to go up against the rather enigmatic duellists of Team Unicorn. To her dismay, performing well during the duel itself is far from the only thing she has to worry about, though, with her powers feeling too volatile for comfort and doubts in her duelling skills surfacing due to a recent loss. How is she supposed to keep a clear head in this international tournament when self-doubt seems to weigh on her like a ton of bricks? More importantly yet, how is she supposed to help her team win?
(Basically, this is a rewrite of the canon Team 5Ds VS Team Unicorn duel, except Aki gets a lot more to do and things aren't all sunshine and roses with her powers yet, because to hell with whatever her canon portion of this duel was. Part of a larger "Aki gets an actual character arc post DS"-AU and direct Sequel to You have a Mirror, but do you see Yourself, but mentions of previous fics are minor enough that it can be read stand-alone without too much confusion.)
