“Do you regret it?”
Oh. A response. It’s voice sounds almost exactly like yours, aside from the, well, ghostly aspect. The syllables echo and curl around the eerie space, making the hairs on the back of his neck rise.
“Do I regret getting tricked? Ending up here? I suppose I do, if you’re wondering-”
“Do you regret letting him go?”
This time, it’s him providing the silence. Even without it explaining, he knows exactly who the phantom is referring to. Suddenly, the ghostly presence doesn't feel quite so intriguing anymore. He feels put on the spot. His head tilts, the mop of white hair adorning it flopping over his face. He closes his eyes–although there’s no use, as he can see through the eyelids anyway–if only to put some space. “...Of course I do. I was the only one who could have saved him.”
