Dabi could see the confusion, panic, fear, and tears swimming around his eyes, but Dabi remained still and calm as he let himself be stared at for however long Hawks needed. Dabi had never seen the hero show so much emotion; he’d seen the man angry, pissed beyond belief... he’d seen him joyous, excited, hyper, happy, but he’d never seen Hawks scared, terrified, like he was at that moment. He’d never seen the man cry or heard him make anything close to a bird chirp like he had just did moments before. Dabi had never seen Hawks so... broken.

Or, Hawks wakes up in Dabi's bed after having a panic attack and... proceeds to panic. Again.

Destruction didn’t work. All things considered, Vigilantism doesn’t seem that bad and hey, at least he’ll be better than that fucker Stain.
(Or a completely self indulgent time travel fix-it where Shigaraki gets a happy ending and so does basically everyone important.)
