Summary
After an unforeseen event within his home, the Protagonist finds himself completely and utterly alone and in no way capable of defending himself against the encroaching night... and the impending arrival of the Intruder. However, he's in luck (though he wouldn't exactly call it that). The madman who has consistently shown up on the Protagonist's front door step, demanding proof of humanity, has received a gift in the form of a bullet in the shoulder, the result of a crossfire between himself and a residence of suspected Visitors. The Protagonist would much rather have anyone else in his house than that maniac (which is shocking considering his approach to people in general), but he finds himself incredibly surprised at the sudden impulse to carry on with his sad and miserable life.

Summary
It had been two years since the sun finally offered the beings on Earth a break from its powerful rays.
Society has continued to pull itself back together piece by agonizing piece, Visitors die off one by one, the population begins to rise once more after the devastating blow. The reporters on television claim this to be a revolution, proof of human resilience. They promise that the sun will never heat up again, that they won't rest until the planet is completely Visitor free. It's a time for hope. It's a time for cheer.
Yesenin found it moronic.
He returned to modern life, to his ways at the bar. He returned to endless hours at a desk and a continuously empty home. Life couldn't get any worse, quite frankly.
On a night he felt particularly bitter, however, he managed to strike up conversation with a man that felt similarly about the state of the world. His interest remained piqued as they conversed. But he failed to realize just what he was getting into until it was far too late.
Life could, surprisingly, get worse.

“Big guy, hey!” Nathan walked to the final step, stepping to the floor and continuing forward.
Mr. Mourning didn’t respond to Nathan’s words at first. He would only say something after he let out a low exhale from his chest. “What doth desire?”
“Someone’s grumpy tonight..” Nathan would lightly chuckle. He ambled over to the back of the couch, casually standing behind the taller man. “What are you doing up this late? Something keeping you up?”

What Nathan would’ve thought to be a short conversation with the old priest, it flips his entire view of the man entirely. Now he has to figure out what to consider them– or more so what the priest wants them to be.[first story for this account :D]
