Summary
At first, Spoke had only been stealing things like food—bread and water, but after he got away with that, he began gathering coin from lady's purses, and before he knew it, he was infiltrating Emperor Clownpeirce's heavily-guarded palace.
Only fourteen at the time, Spoke had been living as a peasant for all of his live, and after his father died in the war, his mother was left at home with him, and when she got angry, she would beat him until he was bleeding and bruised.
Finally having enough of the torture, around midnight one day, he packed the few things that mattered to him, and left the kingdom, going to live in the empire that his father had died fighting. He was going to live in the enemy empire, even if it was an awful idea. It was the only place that he knew.
It had only taken him a few weeks to establish a reputation as the empire's most wanted outlaw, however, since, before long, he constantly had to watch his back.
Greed getting the best of him, he decides to don a black cloak, and with the one chipped dagger that he owned, raid the emperor's palace.
Unfortunately, his luck is cut short when he's caught by the emperor's three best men.

Branzy's eyes darted to Clown’s hand wrapped around the scythe’s handle, understanding the corner he was put in. With a deep breath, he reached his out hand to grasp Clown’s outstretched one.
“Why do I feel like I’m making a deal with the devil?” he asked, a high pitched, fearful giggle escaping his lips.
The room became darker, a few bulbs blinking out as the temperature suddenly plummeted. Clown wrapped his hand around Branzy's, firmly shaking it even as the other took an instinctual step back, no doubt the primal part of him sensing the dark danger that escaped Clownpierce.
