Summary
Edelgard was under no illusions that the war against Those Who Slither in the Dark would be a simple matter, but she was prepared to face Thales. Instead, she faces an unholy union of Shez and Rhea, unsure of which one is the mastermind—and the Black Eagles begin to crumble without a clear, shared goal.
Meanwhile, Shez has to face her own nightmares, overcome the remaining Sages, figure out a way to save the thralls, balance her goals with her growing affection—her love—for Seiros, figure out how to cobble together a society, and hope that she can do it all without fighting a war with all of Fódlan—which is blasting through her doorstep day by day. But she’s not alone anymore—and while no good deed goes unpunished, that doesn’t mean it has to go unrewarded too.
Seiros isn’t alone either, despite everything. She worries that she might lead Shez down the same path she walked for so long, but she refuses to let the woman she is growing to love go without the support she needs. And, in the process, she begins to come to terms with her own demons.
