Summary
Ilya Rozanov is nothing if not determined to walk each of the million steps to the plan Shane has come up with to bring them to their much sought-after Happily Ever After. Unfortunately for him, his reputation precedes him, and it's harder to integrate to his new team than he thought it would be. Maybe it's him, maybe only one Canadian was born with the misfortune of being able to love him, or maybe, he hopes, he just needs to give it more time.
or
A series of misunderstandings, a bar fight, a trip to jail, and outing oneself under duress, all in the name of love.
Featuring Luca Haas' attempts to meddle, a healthy dose of Russian diminutives, and of course, the Scott Hunter of it all.

Wiebe looked between them and asked “And you two will be okay together? I’m not gonna come back to a murder scene, am I?” Ilya pretended to be very hurt by the statement “Coach! Me and Hollander are best friends! Almost married! Why would he ever kill me when I am shivering puppy in the cold?” Wiebe laughed at that and Shane blushed but said to Wiebe “We will see.”

The centaurs get stranded near Shanes cottage and have to go there to not die in the cold. This gives Shane and Ilya a chance to reveal their relationship without saying anything. They are engaged but no one knows they are together yet so they have fun with that concept.

“We could’ve had everything,” Shane admitted softly.
The confession hurt more than he expected.
“A real relationship. A family. A future.” His eyes drifted toward the planes outside again before he exhaled slowly. “But dreams eventually end.” A small, tired smile pulled at his mouth. “And this is me waking up.”

Summary
Shane realizes that Ilya has no emergency contacts and that it takes three years of being married to a Canadian before you can apply for citizenship. Ever the practical man he is, Shane decides they should get married that summer. Ever the sentimental man, Ilya refuses to take off the ring all summer. When the season starts up again, Ilya is in his last season at Boston, and someone realizes that the playboy Ilya Rozanov has a ring tan.
