Penelope felt the familiar swoop in her stomach at the sight of him.
The one that almost feels like pain.
A mixture of longing, sadness and want.
The same feeling she has gotten for years, since she was old enough to press her small fingers against her throbbing center, wishing (even though she knew she wasn’t supposed to) that it was his fingers pressed against her instead.
She blushed as he approached her, his grin wide she hoped he wouldn’t notice as she pressed her legs together, trying to stop the ache.
Curse him.
Why did he have to look so damn good.
She was angry at him…wasn’t she?

Summary
To Colin, the narrative is clear. The sweet sidekick best friend is going to end up with the main character, everyone will cheer, they'll all worship at the altar of a series well done and then beg their mum to let them start series five instead of going to bed. She'll almost immediately cave, allowing quick toilet breaks and re-fluffing of pillows (maybe even an exchange of blankets) before they all settle back into the cosy pile that is their Friday nights.
But here is the problem, and it's a problem that they have never had before when watching a film or show together: Penelope Featherington disagrees with him.
Disagrees. With him.
She seems irked every time he brings up the couple's very clear soulmatism, which is getting on Colin's nerves because he's right, and no matter what show they're watching, Penelope has always agreed before.
So what's different this time?
