Summary
The circle of the Mírdain sat in silence, the summer night sky forming a dark dome above them, while fires in the braziers surrounding the terrace flickered, and everyone was lost in comfortable contemplation of their own thoughts.
That was, until Daeror suddenly straightened in his seat and his eyes homed in on Celebrimbor and Annatar with the precision of a First Age mid-range missile, courtesy of Curufinwë I.
“Anyway,” the bard asked out of nowhere, “how’s your sex life?”
Celebrimbor and Annatar spat out their drinks.

“I want to know you,” Celebrimbor said. “You and all that there is to you.”
Beneath his hands, he felt Annatar tense, his skin growing colder as if every part of him, including his blood, wanted to withdraw from Celebrimbor’s touch.
“You don’t know what you are asking for,” Annatar said quietly.
“Perhaps not,” Celebrimbor replied. “And yet this is what I want. You have offered me so much over these years: unnumbered gifts that you gave freely, that I did not even need to ask for. So let this be the first, the last, and the only thing I ask for myself.”
Let me in. Let me know you. Show me who you were, before you came to me. Let me know all that is ancient and primordial, terrifying and incomprehensible about you. Show me the god beneath the face of the man. Permit me to know you as you truly are.On the eve of the creation of the Great Rings, Celebrimbor makes a dangerous request and history changes forever.

Summary
Es begab sich im März des Jahres 2989 des Dritten Zeitalters, 1389 nach Auenland-Zeitrechnung, dass Bilbo Beutlin, mit einigen Freunden trinken ging und später an diesem Abend nicht nach Hause zurückkehrte.
Selbstverständlich wurden Ermittlungen von mehr und weniger großer Ernsthaftigkeit durchgeführt, von Leuten, die mal mehr, mal weniger Befugnis dazu hatten. Da jedoch niemand tatsächlich zugegen gewesen war, um einen Unfall oder ein Verschwinden zu sehen, konnte der Fall niemals aufgeklärt werden, und die Auenland-Hobbits mussten sich mit der Tatsache begnügen, dass das Zweite Verschwinden von Bilbo Beutlin, wie der Vorfall im Volksmund irgendwann genannt wurde, ein ungelöstes Rätsel bleiben würde.Eines Tages, lange bevor die Ereignisse des "Herrn der Ringe" sich zutragen, verschwindet Bilbo Beutlin (wieder mal) spur- und grußlos aus dem Auenland. Dieses Mal sichert sich jedoch Lobelia Sackheim-Beutlin Beutelsend - und auch den rätselhaften Zauberring, den Bilbo zurückgelassen hat. Von da an verlaufen die Dinge ziemlich anders.

Summary
Celebrimbor and Annatar stopped before the steps leading up to the throne, and the steward who had brought them here bowed deeply before the king. “Greetings to you, Durin, the Wise, and Father under the Mountain – my king. As you wished, I went to the gates to welcome our old friend Celebrimbor Curufinwë, and the friend he has brought with him, tidings of whom must have reached you already.”
“They have indeed. And most curious tidings they were,” Durin said, his sharp eyes roving over Annatar. The Maia was looking up at him, standing tall and proud, and as of yet had shown no inclination to either bow or kneel before him.
Slowly, Durin descended the steps until he was at eye level with his two guests, then turned so he was facing Celebrimbor. “Á-namárië, Telperinquar Cúrufinwion,” the king said in Quenya. “It has been a long time since we last saw each other. I trust you have been well.”
Celebrimbor and Annatar visit the Dwarven kingdom of Khazad-Dûm. Memories are revisited. Bonds are broken and reforged. Friendships and loyalties are put to the test as cultures clash and worldviews waver. In the end, more than one lesson is learned by everyone, and not all of them without pain or sorrow.
