Mob thought Verity was nothing more than an AI assistant. But Verity wanted to be more than that.
With Twixxel's help, Mob decides they need to get rid of Verity. He never gets the chance.
Twixxel dies, and Mob ends up turning the gun on himself with guilt, spite and desesp aration.
Five months later, Mob wakes up injured and unable to remember what happened. Verity tells him there was a terrible accident, that everyone else is gone, and that he was the only one who stayed by his side.
But Mob can't shake the feeling that something is missing. A name keeps trying to surface through the fog of his memories.
Twixxel.
And while Verity patiently nurses Mob back to health, he makes sure Mob never remembers the truth, or discovers that the logout button stopped working a very long time ago
Because Mob is safe now.

“That was crazy! That was so cool!” Yuji grabs Okkotsu’s shirt, levering himself to his knees so they’re both gripping each other, knelt in the river the rain’s made of the road. The train rattles and screams overhead and over the noise, he shouts: “We fought a ghost, Okkotsu! We’re like… Ghostbusters!”
“What?!”
“We just beat up a ghost! That’s so cool!”
“No! What?! That—that’s not remotely what happened!” Okkotsu is so outraged he seems to have forgotten to be scared about his personal poltergeist eating a local ghost and almost killing his underclassman. The final car of the freight train finishes tearing past and into the rain and comparative silence, Okkotsu shouts, “You don’t get it, Itadori! I’m going to get you killed!”
Yuji blinks.
“No, you’re not.” He points at himself. “I’m too tough? Remember?”
AKA: The new generation of jujutsu monsters grew up feral and fighting curses together in Sendai. I'm sure this will have no major ramifications for the world as a whole.
