Summary
Bucky comes easily and lets Steve roll up the sleeve of the shirt, until it’s gathered just under the stump of his prosthetic. It’s still disconcerting, the empty air where the brain expects living flesh, but Steve thinks, this is what it would have been like if Steve had found him after the train. Bucky broken and missing a part of himself, but free.
After the pain of Siberia, Steve and Bucky find somewhere to rest and regroup.

For five nights running Bucky had called Steve over to his bed, but other than saying Steve’s name, he never talked much. As long as the lights were on, things were like they’d always been. If anything, Bucky was a little less affectionate during the day—he didn’t throw his arm over Steve’s shoulder as they walked or bump their knees together under the dinner table.

This is their third sparring session this week, and Steve is simply beyond happy that Bucky's actually in here training with him for real. There's just been too much guilt keeping Bucky from going all out, especially towards Steve, but Steve knows that Bucky’s still too worried about accidentally doing actual damage to spar with anyone else. Which is why they’re now working through the last hour of their afternoon close combat session in the Avenger’s gym together, behind locked doors.
Standing there, meeting Bucky’s confident leer with a smile of his own, Steve can’t help but feel like coming home in a way.Sparring session turned desperate heated smut, as per request ;)

It does the trick: Bucky’s eyes flash. “I am still taller than you,” he says, threatening. Steve shrugs. “I am,” Bucky says, louder, and stands up, dripping water and soap.

“Landlady’s gonna get mad if we get another noise complaint.” The blond dabbed lightly at the purple swells on his chin and cheeks, scrubbing nonchalantly at the blood under his nose. He winced when Bucky clicked his tongue angrily and stomped into another room. “They were fighting dirty and caught me off guard for a second. Next time-”
“Next time? Are you kidding me, punk?” the brunette shouted from their bedroom over the slamming of drawers. “Uh-uh. Not this time, Steve. You’re gonna let these guys go.”
“No!"
