Summary

Summary
Something in Bodie, California is luring truckers to their deaths and Dean’s on his way to take it out. It’s the first time Bobby’s given him a case and, with Sam at Stanford and his dad off chasing demons, he's finally hunting monsters on his own. When an accidental encounter puts an as-of-yet-unknown monster in the passenger seat of his car, Dean decides to ice him, taking his dad's old adage to heart: a monster is always a monster. Unfortunately, Dean can’t seem to figure out what kind of monster "Castiel" is and he certainly can’t shake him.

"Damn it," Dean coughs, turning his head to spit out another mouthful of blood. "This isn't…going…like I planned."
"So the reckless, renegade cowboy riding into the valley of death thing wasn't the plan?" Cas asks, his tone clipped with annoyance.
"No, the recklessness went perfectly," Dean says, breathing more easily now that his lungs aren't quite so restricted by the mangled remains of his thoracic cavity. "I wanted to deliver some cool line when we got back, though. About gripping you tight and raising you from perdition. But that doesn't work so well when I can't fucking breathe."

Summary
Mary unleashes on him, brass meeting Archangel skin and sparking, hitting again and again until she is gradually pushing Lucifer towards the glowing rift between the two worlds. With one final blow, he stumbles backwards into the light, grabbing Mary’s left arm and pulling her with him.
“No!” Sam calls, reaching out and grabbing Mary’s right arm firmly. He jerks her back towards him with such force that Lucifer loses his grip and he falls backwards and disappears into the rift. Mary stumbles into Sam’s arms as the tear closes and disappears. Sam and Mary stand staring at each other breathing hard.
“Fuck. That was close.” Sam pants.
Mary nods. She looks over to Dean who is staring at her. He nods once before breaking eye contact and looks down at Castiel.
“Oh shit.” Mary whispers, taking in the sight of the angel lying dead in front of them. “Dean - I -.” She begins before a bright light from the second floor of the house steals her attention.
Alternate Ending for Season 12 Ep 23: All Along the Watchtower where Mary isn't sent to the bad place, Cas comes back sooner rather than later (shh spoilers!!) and Jack gets to be a baby.

Cas doesn’t say anything and Dean glances through his fingers, just to be meet with the sight of an angel shifting in his seat, staring at him with these stupid blue eyes, but now they are...fuck, they are darker, the pupils blown and Dean’s throat is suddenly very dry. He sits upright like a lightning bolt has hit him.
“You...you still want to fuck me”, he whispers.

It's their last night on earth and finally Dean and Castiel allow themselves to give in to what has been between them for years now. It doesn't matter if that would complicate things between them. They're gonna die anyway, right?
