Summary
A multi-year perspective of an alternate world, where the Winchesters are not a special family, chosen by a divine hand for an Apocalyptic fate. No vessels, no demon blood, no evil God screwing them over for his own entertainment. After the tragic loss of his wife, Mary, to the supernatural, John looks to honor her memory by saving others from the darkness in the world. He becomes a hunter, not seeking obsession and revenge, but justice, and safety for his boys. Although he raises Dean to follow in his footsteps, to become a hunter himself, both men try to shield the youngest of their family from the horrible nightmares of the world. Surrounded by monsters and cruelty, John and Dean fight to protect Sam's innocence. And Sam struggles to find a balance between his love for his family, and the stability and normalcy he has always craved. All three Winchesters strive to discover the balance between protecting and safeguarding their loved ones, and allowing them the freedom of their own choices, consequences and all.
The story starts in the summer of 2001, when the Winchesters roll into a small town. But when one of them becomes the hunted, the others race to save them not only from the monsters, but also from the truth.
