They start to pull away, and D3rlord3 desperately gathers his remaining strength to latch on to anything . Nothing wants to cooperate, his body suddenly aching with effort, but still he– fights. He grabs on to their hand, fighting through the smoke and haze, ignoring how his muscles scream in protest and his eyes sting, but it fades to nothing when D3rlord3 touches them again, something unreachable finally in his arms and he can't lose them, he can't—
“Stay,” he croaks out, begging.

D3rlord3 survives the King in Yellow, but he's forgetting someone important. It doesn't help that the person he's forgetting seems so adamant on staying forgotten.
