Summary
The second year of college was supposed to be simple—shared apartments, late-night talks, the kind of quiet normalcy they’d fought so hard to earn.
Mike and Will have always been inseparable. They are roommates now, like it was always meant to be. Like nothing could touch them anymore.
Except something has.
Will has been seeing someone—Andrew—for two years. And somehow, Mike knows nothing about the guy. At least not in the ways that matter. Not in the way Will tells him everything else.
At first, it was just small things. A hesitation, a flinch, the way Will would go quiet whenever Andrew’s name came up—if it came up at all. Then there's the unexplained bruises, the tension in every stolen glance, the avoidance, and the way Will seems to shrink into himself when Andrew is near.
Mike can feel it, something is wrong.
Will has always needed Mike. That’s never changed. But now, whatever he’s hiding is pulling him under—and Mike might be the only one who can see it happening.
The only one who can stop it.
If Will lets him.

Summary
In Will Byers' mind, the summer of 1985 was supposed to be like any other. All neon lights, grass-stained jeans, sticky arcade floors, sunscreen, and bike rides at sunset with the Party.
Except...
This summer in particular, it was... different, for a multitude of reasons.
For one, he kept feeling overwhelmed by the strange sensation that childhood was ending too fast. That his friendships were changing their form, especially his friendship with Mike.
Then,
Richie Tozier shows up in Hawkins for the summer wearing obnoxious Hawaiian shirts, huge glasses, and Mike Wheeler’s face.
Richie's loud, where Will is quiet. Reckless where he’s careful. And impossible to ignore.
Somewhere between quarry afternoons, contemplating his relationship with Mike, Starcourt nights, and late-night bike rides under purple skies, Will realizes Richie might be the first person who’s ever really seen him.
Unfortunately...
Mike notices, too. And he’s definitely, absolutely, completely fine about it.

Summary
Mike Wheeler and Will Byers grew up playing soccer together in Hawkins, inseparable both on and off the field. Mike was loud, passionate, and fearless—the kind of player who led through sheer intensity. Will was quieter, instinctive, and almost artistic with the ball, seeing plays unfold seconds before anyone else did.
They balanced each other perfectly.
By senior year of high school, scouts started paying attention. Both were offered spots in the same elite development academy—until Will suddenly accepted a transfer overseas without telling Mike first.
Mike heard about it through social media. No goodbye. No explanation.
To Mike, it felt like abandonment.
To Will, leaving was the only way to escape.
The question is to escape what?Years later, they’ve become stars on rival professional teams, meeting several times each season—every match sharper, meaner, and more personal than the last.
Neither of them talks about Hawkins. Neither of them has really forgiven the other. Some matches were never meant to be won. Some people were never meant to be rivals.

Or: Will gets a nosebleed, and Mike becomes super clingy and obsessively tries to fix it.
