“No!”
“You did! Mira said ‘babe’ and you answered!”
Rumi looked to Mira for help. She found none.
“I was talking to Zoey, but uh. I can call you babe too, if you want.” she drawled. Rumi groaned and buried her head in her arms. Zoey’s laughs died down, her attention now intensely focused on Rumi’s form.
“I was gonna say I wanna call her honey ‘cos she’s so sweet, but maybe I should call her glowstick?”
Zoey and Mira make a discovery about Rumi. Things spiral from there.

Summary
Zoey didn’t even hear Celine come closer, just the presence of her shadow, her silhouette looming above her, bloodied blade dripping steadily onto the floor, one drop at a time.
“Oh, sweet lamb,” she cooed, her voice almost motherly. “There’s nothing you could’ve done.”
Zoey’s breath hitched, her entire body trembling as she knew what was going to happen.
She tried to scramble backward, but her limbs felt like lead, the grief pinning her in place.
“It’s already been done,” Celine said simply, as though it were a mercy.
And then the blade rose again—high, shining, merciless.

“No!” Zoey screamed, jolting awake with a choked yell, her body snapping upright in bed. Her chest heaved like she’d been drowning, lungs scraping for breath.
Her hands fisted the sheets.
It wasn’t real. It wasn’t real.
OR
Zoey’s worst nightmare is losing Rumi and Mira. Point blank, nothing around that. Rather they split, or they die. No matter what way, losing them will gut her all the same. So when the nightmare finally comes to show her a life without them, it leaves her particularly undone and of course, Rumi and Mira are here to put her back together.
