Shiv falls silent then, and Karolina waits for a threat, or some snappy comeback, maybe even a cold departure, but Shiv just stands there, looking pissed, and maybe a little pathetic, and Karolina will hate herself for this tomorrow, but, well.
“Do you want to come in?”
Hands on her hips, Shiv makes a show of looking around, as if weighing better options, and eventually nods. Karolina has the urge to roll her eyes, but instead takes a step to the left, and motions a silent invitation.

Karolina looks up from the tablet, seeming confused.
“Didn’t you?”
“I didn’t,” she asserts. She wants to say something stupid like she’s not entertaining any more of this conversation but the thought of Karolina thinking poorly of her becomes too much to consider and she needs to explain. “I—I didn’t waltz back in here expecting the world. I came back to help my dad and I tried to go back to my life but they, he—kept asking more of me. It’s like I have eight arms and every time I try to walk away another tether is being fucking latched on.”

The silence was thick with things unsaid. Overhead, someone jogged across the deck and yelled something. Muffled laughter could be heard in response. Otherwise, they only heard the soft lapping of the waves against the hull and their quiet breathing.
“Daenerys,” he rasped, before she could stand. “You know that—that I can’t bend the knee to you.”
She averted her eyes and rubbed her legs. “I know.”
“The North cannot be under Southern reign again. Not now. No matter how righteous their ruler.” Their gazes crossed. His eyes were soft and pleading. She could feel his breath on her skin. “But I would support your claim to the throne in full.”
“I know,” she nodded. “Just not of Seven Kingdoms.”
