Summary
“I wish it didn’t have to end this way,” Saparata breathes at last, the words trembling on the cusp between confession and collapse. They linger—half vapor, half lament—before dissipating into the desolation that encircles them.
“It could not have gone any other way,” Fluixon replies, voice soft yet tectonic, resonating as though the air itself were an instrument of his decree. “I am but an architect, despite what they say. This story—our story—is my cathedral.”
“Flux—”
Fluixon cuts across the syllable, his gaze incandescent with the lucidity of the dying. “And you, my dearest Saps,” he murmurs, “you are the god we worship—terrible, radiant, unknowable. Every prayer I have ever uttered has been a scream in your name.”
Alternatively, Saparata and Fluixon wonder if their obsession is driven by hatred or love.

Summary
There was once an old Therian myth about a strong, swift-footed huntress. She refused to marry a man if he wasn't able to beat her in a foot race. Sensing that it was impossible for him to win, one of her suitors had prayed to the goddess of love and was given three golden apples. During the race, he had thrown them one-by-one and the huntress couldn't resist picking them up. In the end, he had won and taken her hand in marriage.
So, there came to be a tradition to throw a golden apple to someone who you wanted to propose to, with the hope that the goddess of love would bless the marriage.
And somehow, Fluixon was the last to learn of that little anecdote and the fact that he was currently engaged with Saparata because, of course he was.

The war had ended weeks ago, but Saparata still hadn’t moved on.
The silence was more deafening than the screams of terror the war brought. He can still remember the war cries ricocheting off of every corner.
The world was rebuilding, cities were thankfully coming back to life, and the remaining survivors were counting the very little of what was left.
Among those survivors was Saparata
