It is only fitting that Aventurine of the Stonehearts should be the one to intrude upon his carefully constructed existence and irreversibly change everything.
Veritas Ratio has reached a point in his life where the troublesome urges of his secondary gender no longer affect him, making him the ideal candidate to help the late-presenting omega, Aventurine, navigate the changes in his life. The plan is simple: They will endure Aventurine’s heats together until the new omega's cycle stabilizes.

“Uh, a what?” Aventurine blubbers like an idiot. “What kind of curio is that?”
Ratio crosses his arms over his chest. “It’s a curio made by a scientist on Vega-IX. Someone from the Armed Archaeologists managed to discover this curio buried underneath a research facility there.”
“Okay, and what does it do?” Aventurine asks, as if he doesn’t already know the answer. The painful throb in his chest is still persistently there, after all.
“I think you already know what it does,” Ratio says with a look of pity.
Or in which Aventurine gets cursed by a curio that compels him to speak only the truth and refuses to go down alone.

This oneshot is loosely inspired by one of my favorite Aventurine and Ratio fan comics by the talented artist @/cs_ao3 on Twitter. I've been given permission to write my oneshot that is not quite a continuation, but more like an alternate take on their scenario.
Ratio notices Aventurine’s tendency to hide behind self-deprecating jokes—a sign of feeling disposable. Through subtle care, small rewards, and quiet discipline, they navigate the fragile path from guarded pain to tentative trust.
