Summary
Moonlight glittered through the stained glass—blue, gold, and teal, illuminated against the walls. A kaleidoscope of color in the shape of a textbook, gold ink, teal pages and blue surrounding the stained glass mural. Beneath the artwork, a boy sat, huddled in the corner, illuminated by a flickering lantern light. The flame was blue. Shadow Milk Cookie—or, as he was known in this era, the Fount of Knowledge. Someone Pure Vanilla was wholly unfamiliar with.
On the Fount's left, a book lay open, and he took messy notes on his right. Pastel blue hair lay in thick tendrils down his back, wrapping around him like a blanket.
“Fount.” Elder Faerie’s footsteps echoed down the hall. The Fount of Knowledge flinched, tucking his notebook into his pocket.

Summary
hiraeth - welsh, a word that describes a deep sense of homesickness mixed with grief and longing for something that is irretrievably lost
Wild shrugged his good shoulder. "Got clipped trying to parry."
"Clipped?" Legend unfurled the bandage. His bag was nowhere to be found. Damn. Could've used a potion. If Wild had a potion, he would've already used it, so they would have to do it the old-fashioned way.
Which meant Wild would need to be less...himself, until further notice. "That's a war crime, Champion. 'Clipped' my ass."

Taking his hat between his hands, Shadow Milk fingered a bell on his hat as he stumbled towards the door. It was large, constructed of marble with colored glass at its center. Cream, tan, and white. Shadow Milk remembered when Pure Vanilla had first begun constructing the castle.
Who knew he'd be seeking refuge here now.

Summary
"Hey, dumbass," Legend called. Warriors hit him in the back of the head. With a sharp glare, he continued. "Where the hell did you go?"
Rolling off the tree, Hyrule landed on his feet, dusting himself off as his magic took the brunt of the fall. "Just went on a little river ride, got lost…the usual," he explained, looking back up with a sheepish grin.
He wasn't sure why he lied. The ache in his chest told him otherwise.

Summary
Hyrule saw a few smaller monsters in the distance. He took a step back but kept his eyes on Legend. "Have you ever become so used to the idea of something, you would find it hard to live without it? Like when you're in a dream, but you don't know it's not real until you wake up." A pause. The color drained out of Legend's face.

Summary
Heroes are very sacrificial creatures. They have to be, if they are to shoulder the burden of protecting an entire kingdom. Many of them have lost loved ones, endured torment, and surrendered personal comforts for the sake of strangers.
The Hero of Legend has accepted this reality more than most. He has always been willing to give everything he has for the people he loves, even if many of them leave in the end. He is content to continue traveling the world, giving every drop of blood in his body in service to the innocent.
How would such a hero respond if a sacrifice was instead made for him? -

Summary
The room is too bright.
It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

Summary
Something about Wind—that he tries not to think about very often—is that his hands aren’t very… gentle.
They used to be. For his little sister when he would brush her hair and sing to her before bed, or for his grandma when he would help her with dinner, kneading fluffy dough and swiping at bites of veggies before she could add them into whatever soup she was making that night.
Now, they’ve been torn down and built up so many times that he can barely see past the scar tissue. Hard work and rope burns and a sword through the head of the worst enemy Hyrule has ever known have forced his hands to adapt.

Wind doesn’t have the Hero’s Spirit. This changes everything, and nothing at all.
(Or, three times Legend doesn’t ask about the scars on Wind’s hands, and one time he does.)

Summary
It was an unspoken rule within the group (or maybe it was just their collective instincts that agreed) that the older ones are to look after the younger, and while Legend isn’t older than Wild but by a year, the rule still stood, in the vet’s mind. Would they blame him for getting them both killed? Would they regret sending Legend out with Wild to go patrol before the Shift happened? Would they regret bringing Legend along to begin with, after he got one of their members crushed to death?
This was exactly why Legend never wanted to be a leader. He’s never handled having lives in his hands well.
