Instead of running around in Chicago with Daemon after Stefan decides to get a getaway with Klaus Elena is having a very different summer than expected.
…Elena yanked the side of her hoodie, with an unfazed look at showing her skin to her uninvited guests, and there imperceptible at simple sight -which thank the goods for that.- but more clearly enough for the people it was intended to notice, there, laid on the curb where her neck connected with her shoulder, the scar in form of Niklaus perfect row of teeth he had so generously given her; in all honestly, Elena was more that thankful with the hybrid theatrics and doing a slow, clean bite that didn't scarred her neck so horribly, the double knew it could we worse.
A different set of teeth rushing to her unaware body running in the middle of the night through the dense trees around her; whimpers of pain while her attacker yanks her, bends her, and bites her violently into her neck, tugged from side to side like a dog with a bone.
Yes, Elena thought to herself, it could definitely be worse.

Hates herself for it, because it makes no logical sense to her. (Or the one where Elena is Klaus’ mate and they are both terrible at communication.)
