“My name is Monkey D Luffy! And I think I fell!” The man said, his voice light and carefree.
“You fell,” Law repeated the words slowly, disbelief clear in his tone. “From where?”
“Up.”

Or alternatively, the fantasy AU in which Law is a recluse healer living alone in the woods, Bepo is still a bear, and Luffy is literally God. They still kick Doflamingo’s ass in the end.

When Touya Todoroki set the mountainside ablaze at fifteen, he meant for it to be the end. The end of his suffering, of his father’s expectations, of the boy who could never measure up. But Enji arrives before the flames can take him and drags Touya from the fire. For the first time, Enji sees what he has done, not only to his son’s body, but to his heart.
“I said I was sorry…” he murmurs.
Enji exhales slowly, but his gaze remains fixed on the burn, angry and red, skin blistering as he covers it up carefully. This is not the first time, and they both know it won’t be the last. For a moment, Touya has all of his attention until the soft cries start from inside the house. The baby who always seems to need something. Enji lifts his gaze, hands stilling on Touya’s arm.
Touya clenches his jaw and pouts a little when he notices Enji’s attention has been divided now.
“There’s nothing to be sorry about, Touya,” Enji says finally. “But you need to be careful. You know better, don’t you?”
He always asks questions like that, ones that aren’t really questions at all. Even at nine, Touya knows that there’s a right answer and a wrong one, and neither of them has anything to do with the truth.

Summary
It was just about eleven when they wandered back to Luffy's cheap apartment that night. Sabo was away on business (again) so the place was empty when they made it through the door. They had done this about half a dozen times now— Luffy drags Law out for drinks, Law starts complaining about how loud the bar is after a few hours and Luffy says, "Let's just go to my place!" The evening always ended with Law slipping out of Luffy's apartment a few hours later to catch the last train back across town.
This time, Luffy had a plan.

It’s only been 2 months since the fatigue and the nausea started but it already feels like a lifetime. Law dreads to know what the next 7 are going to be like.
Deadly disease, lead bullets, dismemberment, fourteen goddamn years of HRT and somehow, despite the ravaged biological hellscape that his body had become, it happened. Maybe it was because Strawhat Luffy truly was a freak of nature or maybe it was because the universe just has a truly incontrovertible sense of humor and Law remains its favorite punchline.
