Summary
After the end of the end of the world, Jon and Martin end up in the same place the Entities do—which is to say, everywhere. The problem is, they’ve never been everywhere before, and it’s not as easy as it looks. While they would very much like to help the innumerable worlds that they doomed to the predation of the Dread Powers, they don’t have much practice at influencing reality through spooky books, monsters, or spacetime manipulation. That doesn’t mean they don’t try their best.
Elsewhere, in one of these innumerable worlds, Jon finds a book. It tells him to fall in love, and also, to invest in a cement mixer.

'The third time in the same week that Jon bumps into Martin, he takes it as a sign that the book is not giving up. London is a big place, after all. Luckily, Martin seems to have taken Jon's sudden interest in his after-work plans in stride, and not asked any questions, but the amount of times he has 'changed his mind' at the last minute and ended up in the exact same random café or obscure street corner as Jon is getting ridiculous.
It should not be this hard to avoid someone in the middle of the country's capital city and biggest tourist trap. At least, unless you have a supernatural monkey on your shoulder trying to turn your life into a romcom.'Or, the one where a Leitner works very hard to matchmake Jon and Martin.

“Jon?”
“Martin!” Jon turns, relief shuddering through him, and finds Martin stood next to the throne. He steps forward, but Martin stays where he is. “Where did you go? What happened? I just looked back and you were gone!”
Martin shrugs, one-shouldered, and smiles. It stretches oddly on his face. Like a mask. “I went exploring,” he says, in a voice that isn’t quite right. Jon’s frantic steps slow. “I’ve always been curious.”
His eyes are blue.
Jon freezes. Martin’s eyes are blue. Bright, cold, ice-chipped sapphire blue.

Summary
Martin turns it on. There’s a moment of silence: the almost-comforting whir of a recorder, then a familiar throat, cleared. A small, helpless smile curls across his lips, and he cradles the recorder in his hands, feeling lucky.
“I would call this a statement,” Jon’s voice says, perfectly dry, “but it’s not. Not really. Statements are…are snippets of fear. This is anything but.”
There is another pause. That rhythmic whir returns, and Martin’s eyes close gently, letting Jon’s voice wrap around him. “I love you,” Jon says, and Martin’s smile grows. “Silly, I suppose, to make such a big deal out of a simple statement. Something you already know.”
