2023: I just reread this while listening to wedding first dance songs and I can tell you that I am absolutely devastated. I definitely recommend listening to those songs while reading this I'm literally audibly sobbing and on the floor.

Summary
Katsuki Bakugo can think nice and rationally, just how his teacher had taught him to in near death situations.
He could see through any rough moments of his life as a hero, just like his idol All Might does.
If someone was in trouble, even if it was his childhood friend of whom he'd hated for years on end, he'd come to the rescue relentless of they're history together. That's what he was trained to do.But he'd never wanted to have to put that motive into motion so early in his life, especially on his seventeenth birthday.

With that out of the way, he's starting to see something else in his childhood sort-of friend but mostly object of ridicule. However, he's not sure how to feel about that something else, or about Deku in general anymore.
