Astarion was not a hero but he was stubborn to the last and he was so damn tired of losing. He stood his ground, snarling in the face of his enemies as they descended upon him. Without the element of surprise and with no one else to distract them he was at a severe disadvantage. But he fought with the ferocity of a cornered animal, the option to run now so far from his mind that it may as well not have existed. He would live or die by his decision to stay.

Summary
“Don’t be dense, you’re dressed as a wizard,” she says, rolling her eyes.
Astarion short circuits for a moment. He didn’t choose this costume as a nod to Gale. That would be absurd. Wizards in the modern day don’t even wear robes. An old-timey wizard is a perfectly reasonable choice of costume!
“Well, yes, but not for Gale,” Astarion protests, frowning.
“Right. Because you know so many other wizards that totally influenced your costume.”

Summary
Astarion wants to have the powerful (and attractive) wizard, Gale on his side when he faces Cazador, but Gale has had enough of shallow sex and Astarion's defensive walls. When the bard at the tavern they're staying at fails to show, Gale maneuvers Astarion to step in to entertain the crowd in the guise of having a vampire schtick. Astarion reveals more of himself than he intends and is surprised to find acceptance and affection despite his dark past.
Starts dark but there's fluff, feels, and medium spice smut to look forward to on your way to a happy ending.
