Some of the tension in the angel’s shoulders drops at the new subject as he carefully positions the stick over some smaller flames near the bottom of the bonfire. Distant conversations and laughter accent his words.
“Well, Maggie is my tenant, as you know, and she so kindly invited us here to her family’s Bonfire Night. I thought it rude to decline, but to be perfectly honest, I fancied some toasted marshmallows.” Aziraphale smiles genuinely at that, amusing himself.

Why can't his heart just let him be?! Why must this new person be so good, so familiar, so new, so him and so someone else?How can he explain the past without ruining this person's future? How can he leave when gravity pulls him back into the angel's orbit?
