Neuvillette turns up his nose slightly at the thought of walking amongst the newborn race. Had the Cataclysm not just happened? Had these creatures already forgotten that they lost Egeria to the desert in the south? How can she easily ask him to walk amongst such arrogant creatures?
But then, his memories brought forth a smile; a smile so gentle and kind despite the life it had lived.
A life it will live.
Ah, this really is fate’s works in motion, he thinks somewhat bitterly. Whether he wants to or not, he has to accept Focalors’s invitation to the city and become their Chief Justice. It’s the only way for the future to unfold and for him to understand why he did what he did. It was a promise after all, the first he’s made.
For Fontaine to stand where it is, Time has decided to grace her powers unto Wriothesley by throwing him a thousand years into the past. After all, the Hydro Dragon must first understand humanity in order to pardon their sins, and who better to convince said Dragon to accept the position of the Iudex if not the one who will eventually hold his heart?

To Billy, Lighter says, “I’d love to spar with you and all, but…unfortunately, Wise promised me something a little special today. Isn’t that right,” here, he places a hand against Wise’s waist, cocking a brow at him, “sweetheart?”
And Wise—sweet, beautiful Wise—bites the bait.
He bites the bait so hard that Lighter falters when he feels that smaller hand tangling with his own, twining their fingers together in a blatant show of intimacy. Wise even leans into him, his back pressing against Lighter’s chest, as he tells Billy with a smile,
“Sorry to say this, Billy, but Lighter’s right. I promised him a special service today, since he asked for a reward last time we talked.”
Wise prepares something "more special" for Lighter, as promised.

Just when he thought of maybe skipping a meal and sleeping his exhaustion off, his phone vibrated in his pocket. It had been on silent mode for the most part, not wanting it to distract him from work.
Without checking the caller ID, he fished out his phone and answered the call with the energy of a dead battery.
“Yeah?”
There was a familiar husky chuckle, “Boy, don’t you sound alive today?”
Wise quickly sat up on the bed, checking his phone to see Lighter’s name flashed on the screen and turned red in the cheeks, not expecting to be caught in such a state.
“Lighter?”
“That’s me. The one and only.”
