    There were two sides to this promise; the one that people were told, and the actual reason for this betrothal.
    Wu Xie was to be wedded to the Zhang’s family patriarch as a sign of their mutual trust and cooperation in the future. It was certain to be beneficial for both families, and it was a happy collaboration. Both families heartily agreed to the marriage. There were no ill feelings or underlying plots from neither side.
    The truth was, Wu Xie was offered to the Zhang family as a hostage and example for their promise, for in exchange the cooperation of both sides to a bigger goal. While he was offered riches and treasures unfathomable, it was all but a cover for his real purpose. Insurance; for when it all went wrong.
