Summary
Something smells so good. Wei Ying closes his eyes, already feeling sleepy, and tries to identify where the scent is coming from. He turns his face to one side and then the other, chasing it, until his nose touches Lan Zhan’s cheek.
He pulls back quickly, not freaking out, because it’s fine. He touched Lan Zhan’s cheek with his nose, and Lan Zhan smells really fucking good, and they’re lying down together on a very soft bed because Lan Zhan is too drunk to let go of him, and Lan Zhan is gay but Wei Ying isn’t, and it’s fine.
Wei Ying swallows hard and closes his eyes again.

Wei Ying helps Lan Zhan out of an uncomfortable situation, and they grow close right away, becoming instant friends. To Lan Zhan, they become instant something else. With time, they only get closer and closer, and Wei Ying is forced to deal with his own feelings about Lan Zhan, and his perception of his own sexuality.

Mary tries to close the door abruptly, and the stranger quick as a flash slips his boot into the gap. Damn.
The stranger lowers his voice, talking in a warm rumble through the gap in the door. “I need to talk about Stede.”
There’s something about the way he says his name, a tiny pause before, almost running out of air as he breathes out the word. His eyes flick away as he says it, like he’s looking to someone who used to be in the empty space beside him.

Summary
Slowly, a theory began to form in Ed's mind. If Mary had replaced Stede when he was away sailing, and then Stede had inconveniently reappeared... The solution was obvious. Really, Ed should have seen it before he even arrived. Afterall, he had nearly done the same thing himself. What really are the odds that a person would be mauled by a jungle cat, hit by a carriage, and struck by a piano all on the same day?
So yes. Mary killed Stede, and now Ed was in the uncomfortable position of having to avenge that death himself.
He can't think of any other option. He can't just let Mary walk away from this. Stede had come home for her. He had abandoned the sea - abandoned him - for her. Sure, this house has lots of other nice things in it, like paintings and dishes and silks, but they had those on the ship. No, Stede had come back to Mary, and she had killed him for it.
And as Stede's former co-captain, Ed has an obligation to murder her in return.
Or, Ed hears that Stede Bonnet is dead and decides to offer his condolences to the Widow Bonnet. If only Ed knew that Stede was still alive, and Mary knew that Ed was the notorious pirate Blackbeard.
