Summary
Tuffe found something that always made them feel better. Buried like a dear secret, they kept a small stack of postcards, each with a little note and a sketch. Leaning to catch the swinging paraffin light above, they read the one on top of the pile.
It began in a cheerful looping hand, the name TUFFE in big letters, as though it was a word the author took great joy in writing. At the bottom was a small drawing of a hatted mumrik in yellow, smiling and holding a flower as big as him. Originally, it had been packaged with a pressed daisy, but in the theatre, even Tuffe found it easy to lose Snufkin’s little gifts.
Tuffe carefully counted the postcards. One, two, three, four, five. They arrived in November, every year since they first began their life in the theatre.
Every year, that is, until the last.

Bookmarker's Notes
DEVASTATINGLY lovely, magnificently in keeping with the tone of the original series. Called me out repeatedly. Tore my little heart out and then firmly and lovingly dusted it off and then put it back in my chest. I laughed. I cried. I gasped. I made a sound that managed to startle my deaf dog. A must-read.

Summary
Moomintrolls had always built houses for their spouses. Pappa had done it, and one supposed every other generation had as well. There was nothing better than a house to cement one's commitment or attract a suitor.
When Moomintroll, driven by a late quarter-life crisis, left the valley to do just that, he was not expecting said suitor to be an oblivious Snufkin. Especially after 4 years apart. But fate had other plans, and it seemed intent on not letting them move on from their childhood infatuation.

Bookmarker's Notes
Echoing what a lot of commenters have added — absolutely worth coming back to and re-reading periodically. The internal conflict is so beautifully (and ACCURATELY and EARNESTLY) laid bare in this.
