Summary
Anthony Bridgerton has decided it is finally his time to find a suitable wife. At his age, his father had already been married to the love of his life for nearly a decade and had six children. These were impossible shoes to fill considering he doesn't even think he'll make it to 38.
Charlotte Nephus has been living with her aunt Maryam in Greece for majority of her life. Now at twenty years old, her parents have decided she is well past the age of making her debut into society. She is headstrong, stubborn, loud mouthed, and competitive. In other words, she is everything a proper lady should not be and the opposite of what Anthony is looking for.
As soon as the first ball is over, Anthony realizes the women of the Ton are a far cry from the perfect wife but with his mother loudly announcing his intent to marry, he is forced to participate in the season's activities even if his interest is slowly dwindling. Charlotte is also forced to play along despite having every intention of being on the first boat sailing out of London at the end of the summer.
