Summary
“Ladies.” Nanook’s gaze shifts to the escorts. “My partner and I need to discuss business. I promise it will put you to sleep.”
Uncertain giggles follow, but even civilians are capable of reading the room. Scrambling for their things, the women slip past security, Khaslana trailing behind with his head ducked low.
“Not you.”
Nanook’s voice stops Khaslana mid-step. He turns on his heel, a polite smile in place. “Would you like another round, sir?”
The corners of Nanook’s mouth lift.
“Stay,” he says smoothly. “For entertainment.”
Nanook enlists Zephyro's help in recruiting Khaslana, a vigilante turned government agent, to the syndicate. Zephyro assumes they'll use brute force, Nanook has something different in mind.

Fresh off a recent breakup and determined to forget his asshole ex-boyfriend, Khaslana is on the prowl. He wants to be wrecked… and he gets exactly what he asked for.
Slipping in, Khaslana plucks the glass straight out of the man’s hand and leans his hip on the bar, the languid drape of his body a sensual invitation. The man’s golden eyes are on him now, but they contain no emotion, neither offended nor enticed, only a deep, dangerous calm that makes Khaslana’s heart beat faster. He tilts the glass back, exposing the long, clean column of his pale throat, and drinks, savoring the smoky taste as it goes down.
“Good scotch,” Khaslana judges, idly dangling the glass between his fingers.
“10-year Laphroaig,” the man returns, “serviceable enough for impolite company.”

With the two of them alone, Nanook asks a personal question. “Did you enjoy your time in Okhema?” His voice is terribly soft, the way it is at his most dangerous.
