    Summary

“Speaking of winners and losers,” Phainon continued lightly, “I propose another competition.”

“And what did you have in mind this time?”

“We head to the Garden of Life right now and find a chimera. We stand equal distance from it and run in opposite directions. Whoever it chases after is the clear winner.

“Deliverer, I suggest you backdown from this competition.“

It was no contest. Mydei knew exactly how the chimeras reacted to his presence whereas Phainon…

    “Chickening out?”

Another day in Okhema, another competition between Phainon and Mydei. Phainon’s chosen battle ground of the day: a popular chimera challenge from the World Wound Web!

In the process, Mydei notices a discrepancy in the behaviour of Okhema’s famous busybody when the chimeras are involved. Much like the rest of their relationship, the clash between rivals is about more than the balance of victory and defeat. Unlike their usual push and pull, it brings some vulnerabilities of the past into the mix that require more delicacy and trust.

    Summary

Mydei receives a sacred heirloom thought lost to gods and time. He deduces the culprit with the skill of a war tactician and the patience of a wronged lover. Phainon, meanwhile, is dragged mid-day across Okhema like a sack of honor. A laurel is offered. A hand is kissed. Dignity is not spared. Kremnos: 1. Okhema: emotionally concussed.

    Summary

Phainon accidentally falls for an amnesiac war criminal, half-kidnaps him, teaches him how to love, and somehow sets off a future galactic incident.

He just wanted to keep him alive, maybe teach him how to make toast, definitely not trigger an interplanetary crisis. Unfortunately, memory loss doesn’t last forever.

    Summary

The whole world was nothing but darkness and pain but, somehow, he knew of these things from beyond it.

“Mydeimos,” the thin one said again.

    Mydeimos. That high, firm voice.

    Mydei. That low, soft voice.

These five knew something. Knew him or those voices.

So he gave them those two words burrowed somewhere deeper than his mind or body. Aedes Elysiae.

When Mydei finally emerges from the Sea of Souls after nine harsh winters, the most precious thing in the world to him isn’t his name, his body or his life. But two words he can’t remember the origin of: Aedes Elysiae.

As the years pass in exile, he finds himself plagued by knowledge that comes from the same maybe-past or maybe-future that wasn’t quite Mydei’s and yet was.

It took four years for him to stumble across Aedes Elysiae, a boy that calls the place home, and why those words were engraved upon his soul.
