"Never again. I'll never hurt you like that again. I'll never let anyone hurt you like that again," Nova swore, wiping Adrian's temple with a wet rag.
Adrian rested on the bed, his body aching and sore from his physical exhaustion. He kept quiet, his heart still in pain from Nova's earlier words. But he couldn't deny it. He missed Nova.
"I'm so sorry I said that to you," Nova said, gentler this time. "I was scared of losing you again, but that's not an excuse. God, out of everyone in the world, you had to be the one the universe chose for me."
Adrian froze a little bit on the bed, feeling the damp rag drag across his arm.
"But I wouldn't have it any other way. No matter how many times I mess up." There was a pause as Nova struggled for her next words. Adrian could feel it between them.
