His hands on my cheeks, fingertips pressing in urgently, but not roughly. His lips parting open, inviting me in. I took it gladly and I pulled James closer. I felt my back press against the door. My heart was racing and I suddenly felt dizzy, this time not from the alcohol."

Henry abdicates and he and Alex finally get married. Now they have to adjust to their new life together, but without Henry's royal salary, money is tight and they realize they can't afford to live in NYC anymore. When Catherine offers the royal family's unused mansion in upstate New York, it seems too good to be true. Then Alex falls down the stairs and hits his head. When he wakes up, he can see the ghosts that haunt the property.
Inspired by the tv show Ghosts but you don't have to have seen the show to understand the story.

Summary
This story is a Canon AU, but with a twist. Vere and Akielos are enemies, but Damen doesn't hate Veretians like his father wants him to. When he pitches a plan for peace to the Prince of Vere, it seems that they might be onto something great, but things always get in the way, and there are people who want to do whatever it takes to keep the war raging. Also, Damen finds that he's starting to having feelings for said prince's younger brother.
