Summary
When a certain ring unexpectedly appears in Travis's drawer, courtesy of his grandma and, arguably, thousands of years of tradition, Travis and Natalie stumble on a surprisingly clever (if slightly questionable) hack to deal with his imminent college experience at UC Berkeley. Labels can smooth over uncertainty pretty well, and sometimes making something official, all the way to the extreme, feels easier than admitting to what you feel. At least for some time.
Or, Travis and Natalie chose structure over honesty, terms and conditions very much pending.

Summary
Travis Martinez realized that going to the girls soccer practice after school so he didn't have to walk home was a better idea than he thought.
OR an alternate universe where Travis and Natalie realize they have a lot in common, and it doesn't take a plane crash for them to do it.
“Toadies,” She says with a small laugh, “If you like them, you should try out The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. You might like it.”
Travis stares for a second before swallowing, hard. He feels a heat pool at the base of his neck and it travels up to his ears. Thankfully, Coach has long since walked away. He doesn’t need to see Travis bomb it with a girl.
“Yeah. I will. Thanks,” He manages to almost squeak out.
