"Nine years— I’ll be married to you in nine years?!" There’s a lot that can happen in nine years. Nine years ago Jason had still been Robin, happy and proud to wear that bright outfit and fight criminals alongside Bruce. Yes, nine years can change a lot but not this much.
"Mmh," Tim said, "want to see the wedding pictures?"
"No! I don’t want to marry you!" Jason shouted.
Jason finds himself waking up nine years in the future next to his replacement.

Tim’s hand grips tighter on the coffee, more determined to keep his hold on that than his phone or keys, and thank god, he doesn’t drop the drink. But the rest of it slips through his fingers, and the guy he just slammed into has some seriously great reflexes, because he manages to snatch them both out of the air before they can hit the ground.
“Oh, god, sorry—” Tim starts to say as the guy straightens up, and then he stops. A set of amused green eyes look down at him over a wide grin.
You’ve got to be kidding, Tim thinks.
“Got somewhere to be, sweetheart? Oh, now that’s a pretty shade of red you’re turning—”
“I’m late,” Tim snaps, snatching his keys and phone out of Jason’s hand. “I got lost four fucking times on my way here. If this city was a person, I would throttle it.”

Summary
Tim Drake has always been something other in every situation. He accepts that with the grace he was raised to portray. He knows what he means to the people around him and he expects it when Dick brushes past taking Robin away and making him a Justice League fugitive. He expects it when Bruce doesn't do more than nod after the year from hell. He even expects it when he returns from four years of nightmares with Ra's, victorious, but clearly not missed by the people who could have saved him. He expects it, but that doesn't make it hurt less.
Or
Ra's takes the battle with Tim a step further in new horrifying ways. Tim wins, but going home doesn't feel like a reward anymore.
