Summary
Jun Wu strips the robes from Mu Qing's body with a tender touch, his nose tucked into the side of Mu Qing's head as he lets the fabric fall in puddles around his body until he is bared to the amber light that suffuses the bedroom. His fingertips are reverent where they brush over the curse marks woven around the joints of Mu Qing's hips, his shoulders, his elbows.
"Xianle," Jun Wu breathes, as if seeing his creation slowly coming to light for the first time. "My Xianle."

Summary
Hua Cheng took a step towards the bed and leaned closer, his inky eyes studying him closely. After a moment he sighed and flopped on the bed next to him, a hand lazily reaching up to Xie Lian's head and scratching it gently.
"Who am I kidding, we both know I'm going to keep you. I don't even get why...there's just something about you that won't let me throw you out the door."
Unable to say anything Xie Lian tilted his head slightly and watched as the corner of the ghost's thin lips arched a little. It was such an endearing look.

Summary
It was much like any other night when Hua Cheng and Xie Lian might practice calligraphy together. They were seated next to one another on the divan, Hua Cheng resting with one leg bent up so Xie Lian could sit with the ghost king at his back. Only tonight, instead of a scroll, it was Hua Cheng's pale arm laid bare before him on the writing desk.
“San Lang… you're sure this is what you want?” Xie Lian asked hesitantly.
“I'm certain,” Hua Cheng confirmed. “Gege asked me what I wanted for an anniversary present and it's this.”
Xie Lian scanned his would-be canvas with trepidation. The mere thought of cutting an imperfect stroke into his husband’s skin made his fingers tremble.

After Hua Cheng disappears in a flurry of silver butterflies, Xie Lian waits for his return. Rumours whisper across the land. Crimson Rain Sought Flower has returned and is ruling over Ghost City. And he doesn't remember Xie Lian at all.
“Did daozhang think he could come here, flash his enchanted eyes, and pull one over on the Ghost King?” Hua Cheng coos.
Xie Lian’s teeth begin to chatter. “My enchanted…my…aha—”
“I have never seen a performance quite like it in all my long years. Daozhang must be very experienced in getting his way just by fluttering his long lashes. But is he truly foolish enough to believe this act will work on me? Does he think I will fall for his tricks?”
