“Finish it, my sweet” Elphaba murmured, nudging the sandwich a fraction closer to her wife's lips.
“I am, I am,” Glinda protested weakly, taking another bite. She looked up at Elphaba with those big brown doe eyes, fluttering her eyelashes just so. “See? Obedient.”
Elphaba’s neck flushed briefly. She would not let her concern be brushed off by dirty tactics, much less in front of the Palace's staff.
“Highly debatable,” Elphaba said dryly.
The guard, to his credit, became extremely interested in a perfectly ordinary patch of wall just over the secure door’s frame. Sound travelled more than you’d think in this part of the Palace, and thus he had long ago perfected the art of hearing everything and reacting to nothing. Ever. At all.
(Or: their sickeningly sweet love as seen through the eyes of everyone around them.)
