Summary
Maybe it was all in his head and he’s chasing someone that simply doesn’t exist. It could’ve been that third man syndrome Drew informed him about. She was something his brain created to keep him alive and calm.
It’s a possibility but he can’t shake this feeling that she wasn’t his imagination. It’d be easier to believe if she’d been some floating presence, but she wasn’t. Her features were crisp and clear in his mind, even after thousands of volts surged through his system. Every detail on her face is so ingrained in his mind, it somehow feels like he was supposed to memorize her every feature for the rest of his life.

Summary
From the second she accepted the position with Portland Fire and Rescue, she and Matt agreed they would work the same shift but not at the same house. Minimizing the odds of a situation like Arnow, where they were both at risk on the same call, became priority number one. Julia needed them. That was more important than working side by side every day.
In fact, their firehouses weren’t even in the same district. That was intentional. Different districts typically meant they didn’t overlap. In her six months on the job there had only been one exception and that was because of an extraordinarily large fire in between their neighboring districts.
Did she miss seeing Matt in action? Of course she did, but she’d give up seeing him in action as a fire captain for seeing him in action as a dad any day. He was born to do both but only a handful of people got the opportunity to see how wonderful of a father Matt had become up close and personal. She was lucky to be the person seated in the middle of the very first row.
However, when the opportunity came up to cover a shift at his station, she won’t lie and say she didn’t jump at the opportunity.

Summary
He’s not seeing the picture and he’s frustrated with all the talking in code. They need to lay it out for him so he can leave.
“Please paint that picture for me then. I’m still on call.”
She sighs. “Think about it. This person has extensive fire knowledge, the ability to run into a burning building, CPR knowledge and a massive hero complex. Between the methodology and opportunity, Captain, I believe that a firefighter is our suspect.”
He stares. That’s idiotic. Why would a firefighter do the opposite of their jobs? They save people. They aren’t killers.
He puts together the case and his presence. His mild irritation sparks into intense levels of rage and indignation.
He glares at Voight, voice increasing in volume. “Did you seriously bring me in as a suspect?”
